The Sauren invasion has been driven from Circadia. There is much devastation, and it’s likely the “Black Scales” are not defeated for good. But for the moment there is peace, and the people can focus on rebuilding, and actually get a good night’s sleep.
Except a good night’s sleep is becoming a rare commodity……
**Step**
A Verrakin sailor wakes suddenly from a nightmare. The Grimjaws had returned, and once more she found herself hurriedly loading people on her ship to sail clear. Except this time there was an explosion. She turned just in time to see her ship and all souls onboard consumed by flames, and in the dancing shadows cast by the sickening sight, a man in a hat chuckles….
**Step**
An elf wakes from a nightmare. He was standing with his kin defending his home from an immeasurable horde of skeletons and zombie. He watched his family and friends cut down around him, unable to help because he had forgotten how to use his sword. Then a vampire grabbed him and ripped into his throat, all while a dark figure watches and gloats…
**Step**
A troll wakes from a nightmare. The community she had begun so that her kind could finally gather in peace was devastated by a plague — friends, family, and children dying in horrible pain from a disease they thought long gone. Leaning against a tree, a familiar figure smiles….
**Step**
A Culberran wakes from a nightmare. His hands were covered in the blood of the victims he had ripped apart at the command of a mad fae who speaks in an odd accent….
**Step**
A Skjanos farmer wakes from a nightmare. His village had been engulfed by frost, people frozen to death in the streets while Svartalfar witches called down a blizzard around them, one of whom wears a long coat…
**Step**
An Ikhteni wakes from a nightmare. The Bender of Flesh had returned, wearing an unusual hat…
**Step**
Children wake screaming from nightmares, but receive poor comfort from their parents. The adults mutter the usual soothing words, “It’s not real; they can’t hurt you,” but their voices shake and the terror lingers, because they cannot be sure.
**Step… step… step…**
A figure walks from dream to dream, and in its wake, the Dreaming twists and turns, corrupted by the presence. It watches. It studies. It experiments. And each time it learns more of this place that its kind normally cannot visit.
And the place learns more of it too…

Hidden away on the Amber Isle, Colando gathers his gear in preparation for travel. He must hurry to join with the heroes if this opportunity is to be seized. The Collector has made a mistake. It will take courage and it will take sacrifice, but the Collector can be stopped.
But they must be swift, before the walls between reality, Dreaming, and Nightmare collapse.

PC fee is $20. Npc’ing is free.

IC Blurb:

High King Atrius is dead! Circadia is conquered! The Council of Ephors held hostage to ensure their compliance. The Armies of the West rally to liberate the people of Circadia.

While Bechan and Illumin forces secure a beachhead at Zayknthos, an elite cadre meet in Summerholt to launch a chirurgical strike behind enemy lines. Will the Ebony Claw repel the Armies of the West? Will the Sauren Empress see through our heroes cunning plan? Or will the strike teams accomplish their missions before Sauren reinforcements arrive?

Only time will tell…

Dying Kingdoms will be at Strategicon. We will have tabletops for on Saturday (2pm) and a Court Game on Sunday (1pm). We do not charge for this event, but the convention does. For convention and hotel information see: http://www.strategicon.net/

Court Game: In the name of His Imperial Majesty Amdir Vespasian, Regent William of Ravenskar invites the leaders of the world’s nations to a council in Albeira. This council will debate an appropriate response to the sauren threat. Anyone with knowledge of the strategic situation or tactics employed by the “Black Scale Sauren,” is encouraged to advise the council as it formulates a strategy and convince any who do not recognize the severity of the threat.
An Imperial ball will be held to honor visiting dignitaries on the evening before the council, the twenty-ninth day of Late Spring. Astute followers of Illumin politics will no doubt know, the true negotiations and bargains are struck during the salons and parties of the Albeiran elite. Such gatherings attract all manner of hangers on and influence peddlers interested in bending the ears of the rich and powerful.

Blurb: Iron Gorge has gone dark. Perhaps the recent spate of tremors were worse than expected. Following prompting from the Senate, the regent has dispatched the legions to investigate and reinforce the city. But what will they find?

The Republic of Northern Ikhten has also set their sights on Iron Gorge to expunge the last vestiges of former Imperial rule (and coincidentally expand their own growing empire). With two armies converging, what could possibly go wrong?

Meanwhile, in the south, delegates from Chicahtocmahuizticcihuatl, Queen of the Onyx Scales, Chosen of the Ebony Claw, Avatar of the Triune Serpent have arrived in Tet-Un-Namat to establish formal relations with the human nations of the north and discuss recent misunderstandings. As a show of respect to the wise rulers of Ikhten, she is being escorted by an honor guard the size of a small army.

Additional site info: Ok, camper info! As with all campers, you want to bring gas stoves to cook with. We can always do this. As for building a bonfie, it always depends on the fire conditions at the site and what they decree. If you want to bring wood, cool, but in the end, if we can build fires or not will depend on the conditions onsite, that day. I will let everyone know and the listen up onsite. As for alcohol, I tried to talk to the Ranger, but he did not get back to me, so I will have to ask onsite. That said, even when they have permitted it in the past, they want all bottles carried out by us and out of sight at all times. So don’t leave bottles out on benches or areas and make sure we bag and take offsite all our empties. I will give more info at the listenup at game, after I get a chance to talk to the ranger. Thanks!

The clans of Culberron have long been engaged in a bloody civil war. How did it start and who was in the right? The answers to these questions can no longer justify the fighting. All sides have perpetrated, and been the victim of, countless atrocities. This year’s harvest was all but destroyed in the fighting, and now winter has arrived. The leaders of Culberron’s great clans have agreed to gather for a moot at the ancient stone table. Can they set aside old and new hatreds to forge a peace before the nation starves or falls to an outside threat?

Dying Kingdoms Table Top Game. $10 to PC. Holiday Party will follow, after TT session. Holiday Party details and gift exchange info to be posted in the future.

Here are extremely brief, unofficial breakdowns on the tabletops for the January event. Most table ST will (or have) posted more detailed blurbs on the DK Facebook page. If you’re interested in a table, please let the Story Team and the specific ST know in some fashion, so we can reserve you a spot and incorporate some personal plot for you into the story.

STs with room at their tables —
(1) Joel – Why go back to Aswahi? The PCs were just there and surely didn’t leave it a bigger mess than they found… oh, wait, I see your point.
(2) Laura – Krakenpalooza 2.0!
(3) Adrianne – Ever wanted to go to Hachikura? Now’s your chance!
(4) Kari – Let’s visit Circadia, because nobody’s heard from them in a while and I’m sure everything is super fine there.
(5) Bob – Piccazi has some problems with some dead people, mostly relating to their unwillingness to quietly stay that way.
(6) Nox – Verrakin capers in which much fun and revelry was had by all and no one lost their wallet… or their life.
(7) Ed – Speaking of bloodshed, anyone heard from Culberron recently?

STs currently maxed out at their tables —
(8) Will – A Bechan tea party in which long standing disagreements are resolved without resorting to any stabinating whatsoever.
(9) Mary – Krampusfest 2.0!

An empire reborn! With the great nations of the world falling into chaos due to civil wars, economic collapse, and foreign raiders, now ancient Sauren surge northward in a crusade to retake their former strongholds. Having enslaved many of the Aswahi tribes, they now turn their reptilian eyes to Sokelburg and the colonies of Illumin and Verrakis.

Still struggling to contain the remnants of the vampire plague driven west by Bechan forces, weary Atzotl and Mahutec warriors now prepare to defend their home from the Sauren aggressors. Meanwhile, Zambuti refugees flood the new colonies seeking aid and protection from the outsiders. Perhaps the arrival of von Leipzig and elements of the White Army will mark a turning point against the Saurens?

IC Blurb: Peccazi in flames! Runaway inflation throughout the Empire! World on brink of economic collapse!

Scrollbearers report widespread destruction throughout Peccazi. Buildings and public works burn, while riots consume the streets. Miners fight with townsfolk, as the Bankers Guild withdraws to the Mint to defend their precious coins. Unable or unwilling to contain the violence, many legionaries have taken to looting alongside the disgruntled miners. While the Senate stalls on further action, wary merchants trust only the Guilder. Now that Count Pomeroy and his Pacificans advisers have arrived on the scene, perhaps they can utilize the new magic tower to restore calm?

In all the confusion and turmoil only one thing is certain: If order is not restored soon only the dead will be left to mine the gold.
